As Napping Dog Press prepares for our new release in August, the following article seems pertinent: This may be the most creative path to mental health you’ve never tried. This article talks about how poetry can move us towards wellness. As a child, I fell in love with poetry early. The first poet I loved was Christina Rosetti when I read her poem, Who Has Seen the Wind?
Who has seen the wind?Neither I nor you:But when the leaves hang trembling,The wind is passing through.Who has seen the wind?Neither you nor I:But when the trees bow down their heads, The wind is passing by.
Throughout life, poetry continued to have power as a musician too because lyrics are also poetry. It was a powerful moment when in the sixth grade I asked my teacher, Mrs. Chance, if I could use a song as a poem I wanted to recite to the class by memory. The song I used was by Cat Stevens (now Yusuf) and of course, it was about the wind!
In our upcoming publication, the compilation is one that we hope will add to your joy, healing, and empowerment as life continues to throw hard surprises at our world. We also hope that our new publication will be one that you will feel free to share with friends, family members, or co-workers who also might need encouragement. While we build this site, we will be posting things about authors as well as hints about the book before our big title reveal! In the meantime, we hope you will also take time to listen to this poet speak about his book, The Poetry Pharmacy.
Best Regards,
